The GCBN seeks to contribute to the growth and advancement of computational biosciences in Ghana through an open peer-led community where stakeholders (students, researchers, etc.) can collaborate on capacity building and career opportunities geared towards their continuous professional development.
An important part of our activities will be training and workshops dedicated to establishing foundational knowledge while building core skills needed to excel globally in the rapidly evolving intersection of computations and biology. Our goal is to help develop computational bioscience experts in Ghana through a series of well-structured workshops and activities designed to ensure our community members are fully prepared to meet the demands of the numerous sub fields under this broad discipline.
We intend to serve as a platform where all the efforts of various stakeholders across these disciplines can be pulled together to maximize impact and promote sustainable growth in the sector.
Create a platform for capacity building, networking and career development opportunities for students, researchers and academic professionals who share similar interests. Establish a vibrant and interconnected scientific community in Ghana that contributes to global advancements within the areas of contemporary biosciences. Establish collaborations with national and international organizations to facilitate knowledge transfer and collaborative research projects.
Training and workshops for the continuous professional development of community members. Establish local communities of practice by establishing institutional chapters across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Ghana. Share career development opportunities such as job openings and postgraduate studies with the community when available. Research Support and Collaborations in the various research institutions across Ghana and beyond.
